Sorbitol is a liquid product made from glucose, through the processes of hydrogenation, filtration, seperation refining, evaporation and concentration. Liquid sorbitol is divided into food grade sorbitol and VC grade sorbitol according to different purity of sorbitol.
It has good moisturizing property, which can make food keep cer tain mois ture and preven t dr ying, also can prevent sugar, salt, etc. from precipitation crystallization, can keep the balance of sweet, sou r and bi t te r, enhance the flavor of food, because i t is a non-vola tile polyol, can also keep the a roma of food. It can also be used as sweetener, excipient, preservative, etc. It also has the nutritional advantages of polyol, i.e. low calorific value, low- sugar, anti-caries, etc.

It is mainly used as a raw material for the production of vitamin C, and the light industry is used as a raw material for surfactants. Sorbitol has good moisturizing properties and can replace glycerin in the production of toothpaste and cosmetics as a moisturizer; in the food industry, Sorbitol is a sweetener with hygroscopicity, which prevents food from cracking and keeps it fresh and soft; adding sorbitol to concentrated milk can prolong the shelf life, and has obvious stabilizing and long-term preservation effects on fish sauce and jam candied fruit. Improve the color and aroma of sausages; application in chemical industry, sorbitol fatty acids instead of flax oil, sorbitol rosin esters are commonly used raw materials for architectural coatings.
